How to read a Saudi tariff code
Saudi Arabia uses the GCC Common Customs Tariff, extended to 12 digits. The first 6 digits are the international Harmonized System (HS) code, digits 7 and 8 are the GCC subheading, and the last 4 digits are the Saudi national line. A code such as 8471.30.00.0000 reads as heading 8471, subheading 8471.30, then the GCC and Saudi lines.
Lines marked Heading group the codes beneath them. Declare goods under a full 12-digit line that carries a duty rate. Customs duty is charged on the CIF value. VAT of 15% is charged on top of the duty-paid value. The procedure codes refer to ZATCA’s import and export requirements for that line, such as a permit or an approval from another authority.
The data comes from the Integrated Customs Tariff published by the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) and is shown for guidance only. Rates and procedures change, so confirm the classification on the official ZATCA tariff search before you ship.
